The project

"L'attimo decisivo - The decisive moment" is a comic book that follows the adventures of four teenage boys with a unique power. This ability enables them to confront and counter the actions of a mysterious adversary known as "The Equation." This giant, dark, and intangible entity symbolizes the unavoidable risks posed by nature or human actions. While the effects of these risks cannot be entirely eliminated, the boys learn that through knowledge and action, they can be mitigated and reduced.

Launched in 2023, this project is inspired by the communication campaign on good civil protection practices I don't take risks. Its goal is to raise awareness of risks among young people and encourage preventive actions. Targeting middle school students specifically, the project employs a narrative style that resonates with their experiences.

"L'attimo decisivo" is promoted by the Minister for Civil Protection and Maritime Policies, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Merit, and is produced by the Civil Protection Department.

In the comics, available as flipbooks and audiobooks, QR codes link to detailed videos on civil protection topics and the appropriate behaviors to adopt during an emergency.

As an essential component of the project, we have developed products to support teachers in guiding students through the comic book. These resources include short video lessons featuring civil protection experts and members of the scientific community, who explore the topics discussed in the comic book in greater detail. The video lessons are accessible on both the Indire platform and YouTube.
